Sometimes rest is not stepping away from God. It is slowing down enough to notice He is already near.</b><br><br>Welcome Church family,<br>This weekend looks a little different.<br><br>No gathering. &nbsp;<br>No rush out the door. &nbsp;<br>No crowded lobby. &nbsp;<br>No normal routine.<br><br>But maybe that is part of the point.<br><br>From the beginning, God built rhythms of rest into our lives. Not because He needed rest, but because we needed space to remember who He is and who we are.<br><br>Rest is not laziness. &nbsp;<br>Rest is trust.<br><br>Today, instead of gathering in rows, we encourage you to gather intentionally. Around a table. In a living room. On a back porch. Wherever you are, take time to slow down and dwell in the presence of God together.<br><br><b>Scripture Reading</b><br><br><b><i>Psalm 46:10 (NIV)<br><br>“Be still, and know that I am God.”<br></i></b><br><b>Devotional Thought</b><br>There is a difference between knowing about God and being with God.<br><br>Most of us stay busy.<br>Busy minds. &nbsp;<br>Busy schedules. &nbsp;<br>Busy homes.<br><br>Even good things can crowd our attention.<br>Throughout scripture, God continually invited people to pause.<br><br>Jesus often withdrew to quiet places. &nbsp;<br>God rested on the seventh day. &nbsp;<br>Elijah heard God in a whisper, not the wind or earthquake.<br><br>Stillness creates space for awareness.<br><br>God is not absent when life slows down. &nbsp;<br>Sometimes we finally notice He has been there the whole time.<br><br><b>Family Discussion<br></b><br><u>Read and talk through these questions together:</u><br><br>1. What usually keeps us from slowing down spiritually?<br>2. When do you feel closest to God?<br>3. Why do you think God values rest?<br>4. What would it look like for our family to create more space for God during the week?<br>&nbsp;<br><b>Kids Moment<br></b>Explain It Simply<br><br>Sometimes life gets loud and busy.<br>God wants us to slow down so we can spend time with Him.<br><br>Just like friendships grow when we spend time together, our relationship with God grows when we pray, worship, read the Bible, and rest in Him.<br><br>God is not only with us at church. &nbsp;<br>He is with us at home too.<br><br><b>Family Activity<br><br><u>Quiet Minute Challenge</u><br></b><br>Set a timer for one minute.<br>Sit quietly together with:<br>- no phones<br>- no talking<br>- no distractions<br><br>After the minute, ask:<br>- What did you notice?<br>- What was difficult about being still?<br>- Why do you think slowing down can help us hear from God?<br><br>One quiet minute with children may feel longer than parts of Leviticus, but press on.<br><br><b>This Week’s Challenge:<br>This week, create one intentional moment of rest.</b><br><br>Maybe that means:<br>- eating dinner without phones<br>- taking a walk and praying together<br>- reading scripture before bed<br>- worshipping together in the living room<br>- spending five quiet minutes with God before the day begins<br><br>Rest is not about doing nothing.<br><br>It is about making room for God.<br><br><b>Closing Prayer</b><br><br><i>God,<br><br>Thank You for always being near.<br><br>Help us slow down long enough to recognize Your presence.
